Convert a PDF table to Excel without losing track of the values

Extract selectable table text to XLSX, review inferred columns and preserve leading zeros before using spreadsheet calculations.

Check that the PDF has selectable text

Try selecting a row in a PDF reader. PDF to Excel uses the existing text layer; it does not transcribe a scan. A document without selectable text produces an error. OCR is not included.

Start with a simple table

Use inferred columns for regular tables where values line up consistently. Each PDF page becomes one worksheet. Complex columns, merged cells, rotated text or mixed paragraphs can give a different reading order. Use one-column mode for less structured text instead of pretending it is an exact table.

Check the cells before calculating

Extracted values stay as literal text. Leading zeros and punctuation such as 1.234,56 are kept as extracted. Strings beginning with an equals sign are not executed as formulas. Review columns and convert number/date types in Excel or LibreOffice only after checking them.

Know what is not reconstructed

The converter does not recover original spreadsheet formulas, cell styles, charts or pictures from the PDF. It supports up to 50 PDF pages and 50,000 output cells. Inspect the source alongside the workbook when accuracy matters.

Convert a workbook back to PDF

Excel to PDF accepts XLSX files and uses visible cells from selected worksheets. Formulas need saved results; external workbooks are not fetched. Landscape pages and panels of up to ten columns help with wide tables. Original Excel print settings, images and charts are not reproduced.
