How to convert an image to text
Copy the words from a photo of a page, a screenshot or a scanned receipt instead of typing them again. Recognition runs on your device, so private documents stay private.
- Choose a photo, screenshot or scan in JPG, PNG or WebP. You can choose several at once.
- Pick the language of the text. Plain text is already selected; choose Searchable PDF to keep the picture too.
- Press Recognize text, then copy the words or download the TXT file. Check names and numbers against the picture.
Text recognition (OCR) runs in your browser with a local engine, so your pictures are not sent to a server. It reads printed text best; handwriting and very small or tilted text may not be recognized.
What can be recognized?
| Your picture | Result |
|---|---|
| Screenshot | Very accurate: clean, straight text |
| Phone photo of a printed page | Good when sharp, straight and well lit |
| Handwriting | Often not recognized |

How do I get the best results?
