How to compress a JPG to 20 KB
Signatures and small photos often have to be under 20 KB. At this size a signature stays sharp, especially in black and white, and a passport-size photo still shows the face clearly.
Resizing a photo to 20 KB, reducing image size to 20 KB and a photo KB reducer all mean the same: a JPG file of 20 KB or less.
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image up to 300 MB. The 20 KB limit is already selected.
- Keep the size, or enter the pixels or centimetres your form asks for.
- For a signature or document, tick Black and white for sharper lines.
- Press Compress image, check that it says “Under 20 KB” and the preview looks clear, then download.
WaterPDF finds the highest JPG quality that fits. If you keep the original size and that is not enough, the picture is made smaller in pixels. Your original image is never changed.
What fits in 20 KB?
| Picture | Under 20 KB |
|---|---|
| Signature | Fits easily, sharp in black and white |
| Passport-size photo | Fits at form sizes like 3.5 × 4.5 cm |
| Full phone photo | Fits only after making it much smaller |
Questions about 20 KB limits
How do I reduce a JPG to 20 KB?
Choose your image above. The 20 KB limit is already selected. Set the size your form asks for, or keep the original size, and press Compress image. The result shows its exact size and a preview.
How do I make a signature under 20 KB?
Sign on white paper, take a straight photo and choose it here. Tap the signature preset or type the size your form needs, tick Black and white and compress. The background turns white and the ink stays dark.
Will my photo lose quality?
A little, because 20 KB is small. WaterPDF uses the highest quality that fits. Check the preview: the face or signature should be clear before you upload it.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Selected file contents are processed in your browser. Normal page requests still reach the hosting provider. Use a trusted device and keep your originals.
