How to unlock pdf
- Choose the password-protected PDF you can access, up to 100 MB.
- Enter its opening password. If the PDF opens without a password, leave the field blank.
- Choose Unlock PDF, then download and review the unlocked copy. Your original stays unchanged.

Can I remove a PDF password without knowing it?
A PDF that asks for a password to open needs the correct password. This tool does not guess, crack or recover forgotten passwords. If the PDF already opens without a password but has editing or printing restrictions, try leaving the field blank.
Will unlocking turn my PDF pages into images?
No. The tool removes encryption from a new PDF copy instead of flattening pages into pictures. Review text, images, links, annotations and form fields after downloading; damaged or unusual PDFs may not process correctly.
Does Unlock PDF work on bank statements and invoices?
It can process standard password-encrypted PDFs with the correct password. Use the password instructions from the issuer, keep the original and check every page. Certificate-protected PDFs and some damaged files are unsupported.
Can I unlock a Word document or Excel workbook?
This tool supports PDF only. Password-protected DOCX and XLSX files cannot be unlocked here. Open those files in Word, Excel or another application that supports their encryption.
What happens to my PDF password?
It is used temporarily inside this tab, never sent in a page URL or network request and never saved by WaterPDF in cookies or browser storage. The input clears when processing starts and the processing worker is terminated when finished, cancelled or timed out. Browser extensions and password managers are outside WaterPDF’s control.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. Selected file contents are processed in your browser. Normal page requests still reach the hosting provider. Use a trusted device and keep your originals.
