How to compress a JPG to 1 MB
A 1 MB limit is common on job portals, schools and websites. Phone photos usually fit at nearly full quality, without changing their size in pixels.
Resizing a photo to 1 MB, reducing image size to 1 MB and a photo KB reducer all mean the same: a JPG file of 1 MB or less.
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image up to 300 MB. The 1 MB limit is already selected.
- Keep the size, or enter the pixels or centimetres your form asks for.
- For a signature or document, tick Black and white for sharper lines.
- Press Compress image, check that it says “Under 1 MB” and the preview looks clear, then download.
WaterPDF finds the highest JPG quality that fits. If you keep the original size and that is not enough, the picture is made smaller in pixels. Your original image is never changed.
