Compare PDFs
Compare two PDFs locally. Review highlighted visual differences, selectable-text changes and added or removed pages, then download a comparison report.
Use the interactive tool to choose your files and create a download. JavaScript is required for local processing. No account needed.
How to compare pdfs
- Choose the original and revised PDFs, up to 50 MB and 20 pages each.
- Compare them on your device. Review each page, the highlighted visual differences, page-size changes and added or removed pages.
- Adjust sensitivity if small rendering differences are distracting. Download the comparison PDF report or plain text summary and check the sources alongside it.
Compares rendered page appearance and available selectable text. This is a review aid, not a semantic or legal redline. Font rendering, antialiasing, scan noise and shifted content can produce differences; small or faint changes can be missed at the bounded comparison resolution. Scans have visual comparison but no selectable-text summary unless they already contain a text layer. Report text uses bounded excerpts rather than a complete transcript. Originals remain unchanged.
Before you get started
Does this compare scanned PDFs?
Yes, the visual comparison uses rendered pages. A scan without a text layer has no selectable text for the text summary. Run OCR separately if you also need recognized words, and check its accuracy first.
Are added and removed pages included?
Yes. Pages beyond the other document’s page count are identified as added or removed. Pages are compared by their position, so inserting a page can shift later comparisons.
What does sensitivity change?
It changes which pixel differences are highlighted. A stricter setting can reveal faint changes along with more scan or rendering noise. Review both source pages rather than treating the highlight count as a count of meaningful edits.
Can I use the report as proof that two documents are identical?
No. The comparison uses a bounded rendering resolution and an available-text summary. It does not verify signatures, hidden content, metadata equivalence or legal meaning. Use the originals and suitable specialist checks when those details matter.
Are either of my documents uploaded?
No. Both PDFs and the generated report are processed on this device. Choose unlocked copies and keep the originals; available memory can require smaller documents.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. Selected file contents are processed in your browser. Normal page requests still reach the hosting provider. Use a trusted device and keep your originals.
