How to compress a PDF to 1 MB
A 1 MB limit is common for email attachments and job portals. Many text PDFs reach it without becoming images, so text often stays searchable.
Resizing a PDF to 1 MB or reducing PDF size to 1 MB means the same thing: making the file smaller than 1 MB.
- Choose a PDF up to 300 MB. The 1 MB limit is already selected.
- For scanned text documents, tick Black and white for sharper text.
- Accept the image trade-off and press Compress PDF.
- Check that the result says “Under 1 MB”, zoom in on small text, then download.
WaterPDF tries compression that keeps text first. If that is not enough, pages are rebuilt as images at the best quality that fits, which removes text search, links and forms. Your original file is never changed.

Questions about 1 MB limits
How do I compress a PDF to 1 MB?
Choose your PDF above. The 1 MB limit is already selected. Accept the image trade-off and press Compress PDF. WaterPDF tries compression that keeps text first and rebuilds pages as images only when that is needed.
What is the page limit?
Files up to 300 MB can be chosen. When pages have to be rebuilt as images, up to 200 pages are supported. Split a longer PDF first.
Is 1 MB here 1,000 KB or 1,024 KB?
WaterPDF aims below 1,000,000 bytes, so the result fits a 1 MB limit under either reading.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Selected file contents are processed in your browser. Normal page requests still reach the hosting provider. Use a trusted device and keep your originals.
