THE WATERPDF GUIDE

Work with large PDFs without uploading your documents

Choose PDFs up to 100 MB, understand browser memory limits and reduce the work needed before converting or sharing.

File size and page count are different limits

A PDF can be small with hundreds of text pages, or large with a few high-resolution scans. WaterPDF accepts PDFs up to 100 MB each and 200 MB total for merging. Text extraction supports 200 pages; image export, picture DOCX and stronger image compression support 50 pages.

Choose the pages you actually need

Use Split PDF to keep a smaller page selection. Your original stays separate. A large source must still be opened before its pages can be extracted, so splitting cannot bypass an input or device-memory limit. For files that exceed those limits, use a desktop PDF application first.

Give processing room on your device

Working memory can be several times the source file size, especially for scans and page images. Close unused tabs and keep this tab open. Core PDF operations run in a background worker so the interface remains responsive. Cancel stops that task and discards its incomplete result.

Choose compression for the document

Standard compression keeps text and artwork, but may not reduce an already optimized PDF. Stronger image compression can help scans, while removing text search, forms and links. Compare the actual before/after sizes and inspect legibility.

Keep an output before starting another task

Download important results before refreshing or closing the tab. Compatible PDF results can continue to another tool in the same browser session without selecting the file again. No selected document contents are uploaded to a conversion server.
